Surulere, Lagos, bred a creative force unlike any other. Minz, the genre-bending singer, producer, and songwriter, isn't following the Afrobeats rulebook – he's rewriting it entirely. Forget labels, forget trends. Minz is building a universe, brick by sonic brick, for himself and his dedicated fanbase.
How's he doing it? With "very wavy music with an underlying rhythm of Afrobeats," a style he calls Afro Fusion in layman's terms. Think Fela Kuti's revolutionary anthems meet Travis Scott's futuristic soundscapes, sprinkled with a heavy dose of R&B. Minz cites Bryson Tiller as the inspiration behind his bedroom studio setup at the tender age of 22 – a testament to his DIY spirit.
He's the realistic bridge between the core Alte scene and the mainstream, refusing to be confined by expectations. A man with a plan, Minz secured his International Law and Diplomacy degree before officially launching NSE, his independent label, alongside his debut single "TALK" in 2016.
Fast forward, and Minz boasts a collection of "sleeper hits and cult classics" like "234," "BDMN," and "LADY." "WO WO," is a global phenomenon, with the remix featuring Blaqbonez. But his latest feature, "CROWN BOUNCE" with Odunsi has hypnotised the Alte world.
The BFA Agency is thrilled to disclose that Minz is the family. We can't wait to see what sonic universes he conjures up next. Stay tuned, music lovers – the future of Alternative Afrobeats is looking Minz.
